Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection

The demo for Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection is available to download for the PlayStation 4 from the PlayStation Store. It features a small piece from Uncharted 2: Among Thieves to give you a little taste of the 1080p and 60fps remastered goodness of the Uncharted trilogy.

1080p and 60fps

We’ve probably all already seen a bunch of gameplay on YouTube of the 1080p gameplay of The Nathan Drake Collection at 60fps, but this demo lets you see and feel the crisp and fluid gameplay that we can expect from the full collection. The game feels amazingly responsive and keeps a consistent and smooth frame rate compared to what we’ve seen on the PS3. That paired with the higher resolution visuals of the game makes for a very pleasant Uncharted experience. At times you’ll forget that you are playing a game originally made for the PS3!

Playing Uncharted with a DualShock 4

You’d be surprised at the how awesome playing Uncharted with a DualShock 4 is! Having played years of Uncharted using a Dualshock 3 controller, playing with a DualShock 4 felt like heaven. Although you could use a DualShock 4 as a controller on PS3, it just does not have the same responsive feel as it does playing on The Nathan Drake Collection due to the lack of high frame rate.

The default controls have been changed on The Nathan Drake Collection. The L2 and R2 trigger buttons have now been set to be the aim and shoot buttons, instead of L1 and R2 like before. If you are like me and you prefer using the L1 and R1 buttons to aim and shoot then worry not! These controls can be easily changed in the settings.

As you probably know, the Uncharted games could take a pretty long while to load up on the PS3. From my experience with The Nathan Drake Collection, it loaded fairly quickly! However, this could easily be because it is quite a short demo and has less content to load. So we shall wait and see whether the loading is actually faster when the game is released on October 9th 2015.

If you have not tried out the demo yet and are unsure of purchasing the game then I would strongly recommended downloading it and reliving Nathan Drakes epic battle with an attack helicopter!
